Cosmetics Testing Ban on Animals Now Permanent In India!

"Great news for animals!
Following the removal of animal tests from the cosmetics testing standards by the Bureau of Indian Standards' (BIS) PCD 19 Cosmetics Sectional Committee last year, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has now published the cosmetics testing ban, which adds the new rule "148-C. prohibition of testing of cosmetics on animals – No person shall use any animal for testing of cosmetics" to the existing Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945.
This marks a significant victory for animals in India, because while standards under the BIS can change, this addition to the law means that any changes made can never include animal tests. And because the definition of "cosmetics" under The Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, includes any article intended for use as a component of cosmetics, the ban on animal testing should apply to ingredients, too. The removal of animal tests from the standards and the addition of the new rule follow an intense campaign by PETA India and work by MP Maneka Gandhi and others.
Recently, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also published a cosmetics testing ban to further amend The Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, which, if passed, would ban the import of cosmetics to India that have been tested on animals anywhere in the world. If introduced, the new rule may state, "135-B. Import of cosmetics tested on animals prohibited. – No cosmetic tested on animals shall be imported". During cosmetics tests, harsh chemicals may be dripped into rabbits' eyes, smeared onto animals' abraded skin or forced down their throats.
To support the draft import ban, please send comments to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Until there is a sales ban on cosmetics that have been tested on animals, please be sure to buy only cruelty-free cosmetics from PETA's approved-companies list.
Progress such as this would not be possible without the support of compassionate people like you. Please make an urgently needed donation and help PETA win more life-saving victories for animals."
Yours Sincerely,
PETA India

This is such amazing news from Peta India. Animal Cosmetic testing is now permanently banned, and will no longer be on the table for debate! Soon all other Countries will follow suite. I know Chinese government has changed some of there laws or will soon to be changing some of there laws for cosmetic testing on animals, but with time it will happen. China currently is required to test ALL products on animals.... Which is pretty ruthless if you ask me, which is why its important NOT to purchase knock off products from them, especially if the seller has no reputation and the prices are to good to be true, as well some knock off products contain mercury which can kill you and or cause horrible damage to your body.  Knowledge is power everyone!

Lets keep our furry friend happy and safe!

Here's a comprehensive list of products NOT tested on animals
